TERMS & CONDITIONS

1. Eligibility

To be eligible for the Ableton Summer Music Challenge (henceforce “ASMC") you must:

  • be no older than 18 years of age as of 14 June 2010; if you are not 18 years of age, you must have explicit permission from a parent or legal guardian to participate in the ASMC;
  • be enrolled as full time student at a government-accredited compulsory primary or secondary institution (i.e. students of universities and other upper educational institutions are not eligible);
  • possess functional proficiency in the English language

You may not take part in this contest if you are an employee or family member of an employee of Ableton AG (henceforth “Ableton”), or its subsidiary, Focusrite Novation Limited, Loopmasters Limited, or SoundCloud Limited (henceforth "SoundCloud") or any company affiliated with these companies.

Ableton reserves the right to require you to provide proof of your age, residency and enrollment at your primary or secondary school.

2. Entering the ASMC

You will need access to a computer and the Internet to participate in this contest. Also, in submitting a track, an audio-based composition in a digital file format (e.g. AIFF, MP3 or WAV), for consideration in the ASMC, each user will have to have an online account at SoundCloud. Participants, who do not already possess an account on the online platform SoundCloud will have to create one for free, in the process of submitting their track to the ASMC.

The official ASMC website can be found at www.abletonsummermusicchallenge.com .

Eligible participants, who wish to enter the ASMC, must submit a track via their own SoundCloud accounts to one of the following two age-specific contest groups, that best represents their age:

  • 15 to 18 years of age
  • Younger than 15 years of age

Each contest group consists of a collection of submissions from individual ASMC participants, corresponding to only one (1) of the two aforementioned age categories.

Each contest group represents its own category for the ASMC. Each age group will be accessible via its own SoundCloud group and submission link, known as a Dropbox. By submitting a track via one of these Dropboxes, which requires each submitting party to already possess, or create, a SoundCloud account, each participant is confirming that his/her age falls into only one of the two age-specific contest categories.

All submissions must be received before 11:59:59 PM Central European Time, 30 September 2010 to be eligible for the Scholarship Contest. Any submission received after that time will be disregarded.

Each participant may submit only (1) one track to the ASMC. If multiple entries are found from a single participant, Ableton reserves the right to remove all but one of the entries from the participant’s respective ASMC group.

By submitting a track to the ASMC via a SoundCloud account, each participant is confirming his/her agreement with both these terms and conditions and SoundCloud's own account terms and conditions, as noted on the SoundCloud website.

You may be disqualified if you fail to comply with these terms and conditions or in certain other circumstances. See under "Disqualification" below.

3. The ASMC Contest

The ASMC begins on 8 June 2010 and runs until 11:59:59 PM Central European Time, 31 August 2010. When the ASMC closes on 31 August 2010, each submitted track will be ranked according to the number of triggered online plays it has received, using SoundCloud's player. The twenty-five (25) tracks in each age-specific contest category with the most number of triggered plays, will be submitted to a judging panel, or jury, for consideration in the grand prize selection as finalists.

The jury, selected by Ableton, will consist of four (4) members. The jury will listen to all fifty (50) finalist submissions and select a grand prize winner in each age-specific category.

4. The ASMC Prizes

There will be two types of prizes in the ASMC, grand prizes and runner-up prizes. In each case, each winning participant will receive an individual prize and a school prize for his/her affiliated government accredited primary or secondary institution of learning.
